Historic Personal Computer Collection
Seeing as personal computers have only existed for twenty years, one might not think of them as collectibles yet. Unfortunately, classic computers are being discarded every day by people who no longer use them. It is my intention to preserve a piece of the history of computers by saving these machines from the landfill.
A while ago, I found out that I'm not the only person with this crazy hobby. I joined a Mail List dedicated to people who collect old computers. The last I heard, there were around 250 people on this list. I get as many as 100 messages on a good day! If you're interested in any of this, I encourage you to check out the ClassicCmp List Web Page.

If you are in the bottom, left part of the United States, or if you're the travelling
type, why not check out the Vintage Computer
Festival 2 to take place in Santa Clara, CA on September 26-27, 1998.
If you have an old computer that you'd like to get rid of check out the Classic Computer Rescue List for people willing to take your junk and make it their treasure.
Most of these machines have little monetary value, but they have a sort of nostalgic value to anyone who worked on them in their prime. This was never more apparent than at my first public showing of this collection in fall '95. Some people recounted stories of how they used their TRS-80 or Osborne, others were almost in tears and nearly speechless when they saw their first computer. Many of the pictures on the following pages were taken at the Saskatoon Free-net Computer Fair '95, September 28-30, 1995.
